The local paper in Corsicana, TX had a story of one being installed at the Collin Street bakery on I-45.
I was just by there. There is indeed a Tesla Charging Station in the parking lot.
Place makes great sandwiches, too!
From this article:
Even so, charging time is still a sticking point. With the latest superchargers, Teslas stations deliver a 50% charge in 20 minutes; the recommended 80% charge (more than enough to travel between stations, Tesla says) takes 40 minutes; and a full charge takes 75 minutes. Of course, they spin thisyou have time for a quick bathroom break or meal (their stations are typically near such amenities).
But the longer youre on the road, the more those 20- or 40-minute stops add up. Musk estimates hell spend only nine hours charging on his 3,200-mile, cross-country odyssey. But lets not kid ourselves. Thats significant.
Speaking of used car salesman Musk, he was quick to charge Boeing with making unsafe 787's due to the type of battery they use and of course he got a plug in for his save the world Tesla motors and can I have my Nobel now speech.
Yet, he's curiously silent about the fire in his own house. Granted, if a Tesla catches fire, you just pull over and stop and get out and pray that somewhere this is covered yet Musk had nothing to say.
Oh, wait, he did have something to say. The petulant Musk says:
Does anyone know if the free charging Musk is talking about, is in the contract and is it good for the life of the car, only good for original owner or limited to miles?
I wonder where this electricity comes from, clean nuclear, clean natural gas, wait, doesn't that emit the instantly deadly Co2 gas or coal which not only emits CO2 but it kills kittehs, bird Cuisinart wind turbines or solar?
I do think that down the road, solar is going to kick *ss. All they need is a high efficiency storage system so the day's charge is available for night use and the solar cell I read about a long time ago that supposedly, with one photon, released two electrons thereby doubling its efficiency. Or something like that, I read about it several years ago.
