It is interesting that LTC Bateman has thrust himself into the national political debate this way. Officers on active duty are generally forbidden from doing this sort of thing, so one wonders if he received special dispensation to publish this article. As he is stationed in D.C., the natural speculation is that he is doing so with the blessings of the administration.

If West Point paid this guy as a Historian, they should get their money back. As it is, he only seems to make a mediocre propagandist.

Desk officers are always talking about war and military actions but have never seen action. Not till you have been in the shit do you really know. That first coming and not going round that snaps by your head and you say this is not a game. How about the first time you put the bead on another human and see the red mist. How about the first time you see one of your buddy's hit or KIA and you have seen the pictures of his wife and kids. There are millions of deer rifles out there with Americans that can hit a deer at 200-600 meters. You feel frogee Bateman? You should bring your lunch and dinner as it's going to be a long bloody day.
