You can fire 10 Martin Bashirs and it won't start to repair damage done to NBC News
Martin Bashir, the embattled MSNBC show host who on Nov. 15 urged a crude and graphic form of punishment for Sarah Palin, resigned from the channel Wednesday.
MSNBC could afford to do nothing less than force Bashir out in the wake of his hateful speech.
Phil Griffin, the president of MSNBC, tried stonewalling the mounting criticism even after Bashir delivered an on-air apology, but the words and actions were too gross and hateful to allow Bashir to return.
SNIP
Under Griffin's leadership, MNSBC has become the leading proponent of such ideologically-charged, rabble-rousing rhetoric.
They don't do news at MSNBC any more. They just do propaganda. And you can only attack your ideological enemies so long before you find yourself in the realm of hate speech as Bashir did.
I hope this event will help Comcast come to understand how deeply Griffin and his cynical programming strategy have damaged the brand of NBC News and the network in general.

To get something really hateful Bashir had to go to British controled Jamaica to find a foul example—there were not that terrible in the USA—and old south.

Put Liary O’Donnell somewhere near the top of that list.

If Obama had a son, who grew up to become a political pontificator, he would look like Bashir.

“What is LOWER than MSNBC.....Al Jazeera?”

I see a number of post that consider AlJazera to be lower then low. Other then FOX, it is the only international TV news that I get. Yes, it comes from Qatar, which is my gateway from Europe to the Philippines, via Qatar Airways, one of very few five star airlines.
The few times that I watch Aljazera, I do not notice political opinions. I doubt that they could be as bad as CNN or PMSNBC. I would be interested in hearing some examples from those who say it is as bad as MSNBC.

Never fear. PMSNBC will replace him someone equally obnoxious if not more so.

Phil Griffin is an idiot...one who puts his likeness in prime TV time slots ..Madcow, whom he calls “our quarterback” didn’t even own a TV when he gave her primetime. This is a “lean-forward” network incapable of unbiased commentary, ie., matthews, maddow and sharpton are shining examples of how he thinks and operates. Bashir is just a drop in the liberal bucket...and according to a 12/2/2013 interview in The New Yorker magazine Griffin recently asked Ed Shultz to return to weekdays...to quote Griffin “Ed’s voice was missed”. Good grief.

Maybe so. But what can they do or say about her to top Bashir!? He's set the standard for that cable entity for this generation.

It was a TV columnist’s rant, not really an editorial or front-page news story.
