McConnell worries that the Senate Conservatives Fund and other insurgent groups are pursuing a confrontational, uncompromising strategy that makes it impossible for conservatives to govern.
“The Senate Conservatives Fund is giving conservatism a bad name. They’re participating in ruining the [Republican] brand,” McConnell said. “What they do is mislead their donors into believing the reason that we can’t get as good an outcome as we’d like to get is not because of a Democratic Senate and a Democratic president, but because Republicans are insufficiently committed to the cause — which is utter nonsense.”
The outside groups, in McConnell's view, are unaccountable and financially motivated and pose a threat to the Republican Party's viability. The groups in 2010 and 2012 backed a handful of untested, ideological candidates in Republican primaries that couldn't win general elections, costing the party opportunities to build a majority. It's a threat that must be addressed ahead of the 2014 and 2016 elections, McConnell said, because it's repelling the very voters the GOP needs if it's ever to take control of the federal government.

Note: For the sake of discussion, I have annotated the key quote (IMHO) from the thread article.
It is worthwhile for us Conservatives to take notice of what the RINO Establishment deems important after being bypassed for nearly 5 years by an Oppressive Communist takeover of the US Federal Government.
During the recent partial shutdown of the US Federal Government, the “Just Say NO!” intransigent obstructionism of Communist Senator Harry Reid and Communist Tyrant B. Hussein Obama has been successfully sold to the RINO Establishment by the ever-helpful Leftstream Media as “disastrous.” [See point # 1 above.]
In fact, the main disaster was that the laid off Federal employees were given back pay for the days they were on shutdown vacation.
Notice how quick the RINO Establishment has been to accept the Leftstream Media’s second point:” The uncompromising posture of Conservatives. “ [See point # 2 above.]
This quickness to reject “Courage of one’s convictions,” “Principle,” and other stellar virtues of duly elected political party members is the most revealing “tell” of the lack of a philosophy that represents the voters who elected them.
If we, the Conservatives Voters, have learned anything from TARP to Obamacare, it should, IMHO, be this:
A Republican in Name Only, (RINO), will always support the easiest possible solution, regardless of the great harm that will be done to the United States of America.

1.) Do we re-elect a pro-Democrat RINO in the vain, (IMHO), hope that somehow a RINO “majority” will actually rollback the great harm done to our Country from TARP to Obamacare? IOW, “THIS time it will be different!”
2.) Do we attack, full-bore, the RINO Establishment as the proven useless guardian of the US Constitution and American Core Values?
2014 is the perfect time to decide to accept or reject the RINO Establishment, IMHO.
What say all of you?
The gop-e will do everything to slow down or stop actual conservatives every chance they get. So, it seems to me that we should support actual conservatives but that may end up being like supporting a libertarian or green party or cpusa candidate and simply make it easier for the demokkkrats to retain/gain seats. Quite a conundrum.
PREDICTION: The GOP-e come next year and beyond will be taken down, bit by bit.

Go after the leaders ( Bitch, Boner, Cantor, McCarthy, Lamar, Cornyn, Linda.) for openers. The GOPe needs to know that they don’t get elected behaving as they have. When the rest of the squishy who are not up for re-elecion this year see the handwriting on the wall, they may decide that they either need to change or go.

McConnell is also the longest serving U.S. Senator in Kentucky history. Currently he is the 8th most-senior Senator, as well as the 4th most senior Republican member.

These are just the latest installments of McConnell’s’ decision to confront the Tea Party head on. He’s sick of right wingers holding the House hostage and limiting his ability to work with Senate Democrats. After he stepped in to end the government shutdown and avoid a default, McConnell vowed not to let it happen again.
More than any other campaign in the 2014 election, McConnell’s is a battle for control over the GOP. If he can defeat Bevin and Grimes while challenging SCF and other conservative groups, it will prove that the establishment still has power within the party. If not, it will give the Tea Party yet another boost.
However, McConnell’s war is not an isolated battle. By challenging the Tea Party in a public manner, he’s forcing other GOP candidates to pick sides. Like with Sasse, candidates cannot simultaneously receive support from conservative groups and have the minority leader’s blessing. As Strong writes, “being Switzerland isn’t really an option.”
This is a risky strategy for McConnell. He’s starting a GOP civil war, something Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) has long tried to avoid. The rift in the party could have electoral consequences. An onslaught of negative ads both aimed at and produced by Republicans will hurt the party as a whole and nasty, divisive primaries could cause some Republicans to stay home in the general election.
Boehner repeatedly capitulated to the Tea Party during the government shutdown, because the greatest risk to the House GOP’s majority was a civil war. He had no choice, but to appease them. With Obamacare’s disastrous launch, the chances of Democrats retaking the House have fallen to zero. Now, Republicans have a huge opportunity to take back the Senate. But McConnell’s tactics could reduce those chances.
This was the war that Boehner has been trying to avoid for years. McConnell is now welcoming it.

Sen. McConnell Urges GOP to ‘Stand Up to’ ‘Utter Nonsense’ From Tea Party Purists
McConnell urged Republicans to “stand up to” conservatives who insist that McConnell’s brand of governing is tantamount to acquiescence to Democratic priorities.
“There were people who were basically afraid of [conservatives], frankly,” McConnell told the Washington Examiner in a lengthy interview. “It’s time for people to stand up to this sort of thing.”
“To have the kind of year we ought to have in 2014, we have to have electable candidates on November ballots in every state,” McConnell said, “people that don’t scare the general electorate and can actually win, because winners make policy and losers go home.”
However, the Examiner also quotes a conservative activist who says that no amount of backlash will stop grassroots conservatives who are deeply concerned about the direction the country is heading in from backing candidates “who will actually stand up and fight for them.”
It’s rino republicans caving to and trying to mollify democrats “that makes it impossible for conservatives to govern.”
That makes it an accurate statement.
I say purge the DC swamp of RATs and RINOs. Climb in their sewer and fight accordingly. Vote them OUT!!!
Even Mr. McConnell’s fellow Republicans say somewhat admiringly that he can be a secretive and coldly calculating tactician with an eye for political openings, someone more consumed by political strategy than ideology or philosophy.
He is in many ways the mirror image of his Democratic counterpart, Mr. Reid. Both are experts at the inside game who struggle with the burden of trying to control a political caucus at a time when legislative leaders no longer have the brute power they once had and senators are hailed for acting like mavericks.
“Mitch tends to play things close to the vest,” said Senator John Cornyn, Republican of Texas.
The extent of Republican unity to date is attributable to some degree to Democratic missteps, as well as to the rise of the Tea Party movement, which has exerted tremendous pressure on Republicans not to do anything that might give comfort to the president and his party.
But it is also testimony to how Mr. McConnell has been able to draw on 25 years of Congressional savvy to display a mastery of legislative maneuvering.
“To the extent that they want to do things that we think are in the political center and would be helpful to the country, we’ll be helpful,” Mr. McConnell said of the Democrats.
He consistently told fellow Republicans they needed to win back independent voters and lapsed Republicans
Mr. McConnell’s strategy has left Republicans at risk of being tagged as pure obstructionists and a party without a positive agenda.
“We came in shellshocked,” said Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina. “There was sort of a feeling of ‘every man for himself.’ Mitch early on in this session came up with a game plan to make us relevant with 40 people. He said if we didn’t stick together on big things, we wouldn’t be relevant.”
Mr. McConnell also said Mr. Grassley and Republicans should not make the mistake that Democrats had and present a single, big-idea bill that could draw all kinds of criticism.
Mr. McConnell, a devoted fan of University of Louisville basketball, urged his colleagues to keep playing “team ball.” He reiterated the message he had employed for a year — the party’s resurgence depended on unity, and Republicans needed to be patient.
Mr. McConnell, who was first elected to the Senate in 1984 with the help of a Roger Ailes-produced advertisement that showed bloodhounds searching for his opponent, has had his ups and downs as a leader. Senate Republicans lost 14 seats in the last two elections when he was the No. 2 Republican and then the party chief, and Mr. Specter jumped ship on his watch.

Mitch McConnell needs to stop the thin-skinned stupidity. The people he needs to be fighting are democrats... NOT run of the mill ordinary citizens who happen to be conservative.
Democrats NEVER fight members of their base. NEVER.
Remember when the Occupy buy was caught on tape trying to sh*t on a police car? NOT ONE dem condemned the act.

If Mitch McConnell was a leader rather than a control freak he would be attempting to assist us with getting our voice.
