Smelting lead is much different than recovering lead. Recovering lead will give the manufacturers all they need. Furthermore, there is still a wide-open marketplace in raw metals, and lead has many uses. Lots of Chinese imports still.

No shortage of lead in the world...mostly as a by-product of silver-zinc mining. They mine scads of it in South America, especially Peru and in northern Idaho in the Silver Valley.
