For whatever reason, this administration doesn't seem to like the Chinese very much. There's no doubt what they're after in the Middle East, but surprisingly, they seem to unwittingly swerve into doing the right thing in this part of the world. I'm sure it's baffling to our foes and allies in the region.

One could wish they didn’t like the chinee money that is funding their “no budget” admin through the Fed. The Fed selling T bills to chinee, etc. The Clintons... not so much since it was Riady et al and John Huang and many other examples of chinee techno spying and influence which paid their political fee.
I’d say someone listened to someone in the Pentagon for a “pee on my foot” move with prior intel they would not be challenged. Someone who gets the need to “keep face” by the chinee. Japan going at the Chinese is a good thing— old animosities keep them occupied. Counting on the chinee to keep N. Korea in check? No helped by this much.
