I don’t know what world you live in, but Obama is by far and large pro sunni. Also your scenarios are unrealistic, there is a reason why nations refrain from using nuclear weapons, because there will be reactions, quite possibly nuclear ones. Before you go on about how these fanatics would blow up their country to achieve their goal, that is also unrealistic.

My tentative take on this is that Obama wanted to strengthen Islam in the Middle East, particularly against its perceived nemesis Israel. Having stubbed his toe in Egypt and Syria, and recognizing that the Saudis will never be the militant theocracy that he desires, he has decided to cast his lot with Shiite Iran, in this case to buy them time so that they can develop a nuclear bomb and a delivery system. While Iran may not ever launch say, four nukes against Israel's four hundred, they can intimidate their neighbors, as well as Israel to a considerable extent. This will shift the balance of power against Israel, achieving part of Obama's overall objective.
