I’m going to be a little arrogant here.
If you have NEVER gone to sea on a warship of any size, you have NO clue what it is like to be out there, in the night so dark you cannot see your hand if you put your arm out.
You cannot know the sounds of the ship cutting through the sea, and knowing, deep in your heart, that you are at the mercy of God.
And then, you remember your SHIPMATES, sailors and marines on board with you, and your fear leaves as you gain courage from those there with you.
Its a Navy thing, if you haven’t been there, you wouldn’t understand.
Godspeed Electricians Mate Second Bud Cloud.
Its a Navy thing, if you havent been there, you wouldnt understand.

I haven’t been there, but I am grateful to you and others who have been there.
Thank you, and thank you for posting.
I came very close to joining the Navy when I was a younger man. Had the physical and was ready to go. I can’t remember why I didn’t go through with it. I just changed my mind, I guess.
I’ve regretted that decision ever since.
CoM, yeah, it's a Navy thing. Meaning no disrespect to anyone, servicemember or civilian, but it's you and the scrap of humanity crowded on a ship versus something whose awesomeness is exceeded only by space, and by God. A storm at sea is a life-changing experience.
EM2 Bud Cloud, fair winds and following seas.
