But no official transcript or copy as delivered.

Given PBS’s admission that they asked Obama to read the Hay copy, I think this is a manufactured controversy. They HAD to have known people would have noticed and talk about it. But did our great Lincoln worshipping President know that? Or was he manipulated into it without realizing the controversy it would generate?

He didn't kow until he read it in the papers, like everything else.

Reference, please. I could not find it on the PBS web-site.

85 PBS states that they asked president Obama to read the first version (the Nicolay version). I haven’t listened through all the other renditions but it appears that the other three presidents who were asked to read the address all used one of the latter versions, containing “a nation under God”. Why this is so, whether it really was PBS who gave Obama that version, or if it was the WH who decided which version to use can always be open to discussion.
