The Fourth Obamacare Shock Wave Is About To Reach Us

Obamacare is intensifying the doctor shortage – though not in ways that were anticipated.

Everybody seems to have expected that Obamacare would sign up some 30 million people who don’t have health insurance, and they would overwhelm doctors’ offices. But these people – especially the young and healthy whose sky-high Obamacare premiums were supposed to finance everybody else’s subsidies – have stayed away. They know a bad deal when they see one.

Although the young and healthy aren’t going for Obamacare, the doctor shortage is intensifying, because government intervention generally is making it more expensive and difficult for doctors to do their job.

Government-run Romneycare – the model used for Obamacare – was enacted in Massachusetts in 2006, and a recent survey by the Massachusetts Medical Society found that half the state’s primary care practices aren’t accepting new patients. At practices accepting new patients, the average wait to see a family physician is 39 days, and the average wait to see an internal medicine physician is 50 days.

the left could care less about doctor shortages, they are more concerned about stealing our tax dollars to pay for their summer & winter homes.

You no longer have to be a doctor to perform abortions.

Great tagline! I am just finishing Vol. III of “The Gulag Archipelago” and “line up and be numbered” hits home for me.
I recommend the reading. It is long but a worthy reminder of
what Communism can do to the people with total agreement from all the rest of the people!

And, WE THE PEOPLE, in our right minds, should not accept O’care. Or, as I read recently “Obama’s Socialized Health Insurance Tax”. OSHIT

‘nuff said.

“We may see the formation of a true consumer-choice, lower-cost, high-service health network.”

‘Concierge service’ is already out there.

I was a Combat Gynecologist but am no longer current. I will only help in an emergency.

After you’ve finished the “Gulag Archipelago,” try “Wild Swans” for a look at China from 1850 - 1950. Same story, different setting. Fascinating though.

How unpatriotic of you! You’re supposed to stay here and have your practice controlled by Obama and not make any money.

Even if doctors are still taking Medicare patients, they all complain about the reimbursement and rules and reductions.

They take Medicare patients for one reason only: They refuse to refuse to treat the elderly.

One doctors said of Medicaid that it has ruined America. Not health care. America.

Nah. Physicians are licensed at the state level. The American Board of Medical Specialities credentials physicians through speciality board examinations which are recognized by state medical boards. Furthermore, hospitals would never grant privileges to physicians without the appropriate specialty training and certification; just think of the incredible legal risk.
Zero is not having luck forcing insurance commissioners to force insurers to un-cancel policies that were cancelled because of 0-care. He’ll have an even harder time doing something that allows unqualified physicians to practice.

5a. …caused by the total destruction of the Rule of Law and substitution of Diktats by the Dictator in Chief. This, perhaps, is the most serious issue not being widely discussed — one person making horrible decisions for the entire nation in violation of Constitutional Law.

At present Medicare reimburses providers at only about 80% of their costa, and Medicaid at about 50% - that’s why private insurance is so much more expensive than it otherwise would be - to help doctors make the difference in what they lose under the government programs - with many losing their private coverage and many fewer signing up, and a greater percentage of those seeking coverage going on to Medicaid, the financial imbalance is going to become crushing - the government will have to come up with gigantic subsidies or great numbers of providers will simply go out of business.....

Healthcare’s dead, Barry.

I hope Obamacare's dead and soon never to be mentioned again except by strong Conservatives in the next elections.
