Why should we assume she didn't have a cellphone?

I assume she had one and left the scene of the crime to avoid arrest.

That's why its hard to believe she was really "seeking help." We know she was a criminal so she was probably looking for a victim. That's what criminals do.

Her cellphone was found where she died.

The battery was worn down. I would guess we may hear of the family members and friends she had called … if there was enough battery to call them.
