They were dealing with people who will actually shoot them. Russia does not play well with terrorists and idiots.

Pirates on the high seas should be dispatched with massive firepower.
Then post it on youtube.

Pretty calm reaction for the Russians considering they are dealing with pirates.

Looks to me like the Sunrise crew were trying to crowd the Russian authorities on deck to cause a reaction that could be video recorded and manipulated to make the Russians look brutal.
If the Sunrise crew crowded the local deputies at the mall in my city like that, they would get a hickory haircut immediately.
Interestingly, the same deputies wouldn't touch an Occupy type under any circumstances.

The Russians were lucky no one was hostile.
They were sitting ducks for a long time.
I would bet an American Seal team wouldn’t have taken so long getting on board.

You bet, took way to long to”fast rope” in,and yes it did look like the greenies were trying to provoke a confrontation, the Russians showed great restraint.

IMHO, they have different rules considering different situation. For example it is illegal for Russian police to cuff non-violent suspects who are transported in a police car. Somalian pirates were boarded from helicopter too but it was absolutely different as we know. Pirates were armed at the time and some were killed by the Russian boarding party in process. In Greenpeace situation there was no risk of armed resistance but huge risk of provocation to make authorities look brutes to film it for PR purposes. I guess they have negotiated such a risk just perfectly.

They’re still in jail, right?
I saw the comment from greenpeace under the video, pleading for people to jump on the freetheartic30 or some nonsense.
God I hate stupid people, sorry, I know that sounds harsh but dang the idiocy flying around this week is horrid.
