French surrender? The British fled for their lives at Dunkirk, leaving their side undefended. The French lost 360,000 dead and wounded and inflicted 157,000 on the Germans in 6 weeks. The British fled the battlefield.
The fact is that nobody, anywhere was prepared for the speed and tactics of blitzkrieg. And nobody was a coward.
The Brits surrendered at Singapore, they also surrendered and lived under occupation on the Jersey isles.
Or maybe you mean WWI. Where France and England fielded the same number of soldiers, but France had double the casualties. Making a case for French cowardice in the wars of the 20th century is ignorant of the facts. Just as solid of a case can be made of England or Germany.
