The Coders didn’t write the law...

Well, you know, I was thinking about that. What we actually have here is a disastrous mess programatically that absolutely does reflect the mess that is the legislative model. All too accurately. And so now the code monkeys are under the gun, tight deadline, people pounding the drum who don't have a clue what they're really doing, with an unbreakable mandate to make the thing work, someway, somehow...

I have a hunch that if anyone looks too closely at the code they'll find out that the coders ARE writing the law as they go along. It's just about their only option. The Mountain Dew subsidies will be a dead giveaway but nobody will dare to tell them to redo it.

Exactly right. My heart goes out to the developers and testers of this monstrosity. They had to pass the bill to find out what was in it because it was in it. They have to develop the website to find out what it's supposed to do.

And Barry's saying well, I went into politics instead of web design or comp sci; but if I HAD gone that route, I'D have had this thing working in a week. My immense talents have simply been applied elsewhere.
