Whoa! Hold on there, bubba. McConnell has a very conservative voting record. Let's examine his record and legislative accomplishments before we label him an enemy. He does not hate conservatives. He is conservative. It may be that he and Ted Cruz disagreed on strategy rather than values. If that is the case, then we can address strategical disagreements within the party without throwing good conservatives under the bus because they didn't follow Ted Cruz' shutdown lead. Not everyone can be a "Ted Cruz." God made us each different and he uses those differences for His plan.
We need individual FR chapters to research the voting history and legislative accomplishments of their senators and representatives so we can stand united on which legislators, if any, need to be primaried.
I am willing to initiate a group of FReepers who can compile and present research data that any FR chapter wants to submit for publication on FR. If we really want to take back our party and our country, it's time to take FR activism to the next level.
We can't afford to lose even one good conservative in 2014. We must make educated decisions about our candidates not knee-jerk, reactionary decisions that will damage our chances to take back our party.
Any thoughts from those I pinged? Should we develop a plan or just wait for the inevitable circular firing squad to take control during the primaries?
One of my pet peeves is that we attack our own camp harder than the enemy’s.
And Yes Mitch McConnell reminds be of the goofy turtle in the loony tunes shows.
Ok, I can get with that. But why did he have to be such a pu&&y during Obamacare’s vote AND the shutdown?
Thanks for the ping!
So, the Kentucky kickback in Mitch's latest cave-in on the shutdown/debt ceiling isn't reason enough to bounce him from the Senate?
Assuming we follow your assinine suggestion, what good would examining Mitch's record do? Really, how hard is it for Mitch to establish a conservative voting record when he allows Harry Reid to set the agenda and language of every bill? Beyond that, where is McConnell when it comes to the PR side of the job on setting the tone of GOP opposition? On very rare occasions, he has choked out half-competent statements of conservative beliefs, but you could tell his heart really wasn't in it. The stench of capitulation simply exudes from every pore of his body.
Perhaps McConnell would be adequately conservative on his individual voting record to be a back bencher in the Senate, but he is woefully moderate as the GOP Senate Leader. I really don't care if Mitch remains in the Senate as a somewhat conservative back bencher, but I want him out as a leader. I don't even want him as a chairman or ranking member of a committee. And that's the problem. Congressional leaders NEVER step down from leadership unless they are forced out by scandal or individual electoral defeat in their home state.
In sports, they say you can't fire an entire team or a handful of players if the team performs poorly. Sometimes you have to fire the coach - even if the coach is a good guy or doing a good job or working hard. It's time to fire our coaches in both the House and Senate!
