An Egyptian delegation visited Moscow last Thursday to strengthen ties between the two countries, reports Haaretz, just a few days after America announced the suspension of $250 million in military aid to Egypt.
With the return of the delegation from Moscow, Egypt expressed intentions to buy MiG-29 planes and other military equipment from Russia in a $15 billion deal. Some reports indicate Saudi Arabiawhich is itself experiencing something of a crisis in its relations with the Obama administrationwill help finance the deal.

After cultivating good relations and military cooperation with Egypt for 35 years, this President has destroyed that trust, so much so, that the Egyptians have decided that the Soviets, oops, I mean the Russians are a more RELIABLE ally.
Obama does not seem to know what the heck he is doing, even after 5 years!
Hello? Pres. Obama? Excuse me Sir, but the world is a Chess board and you Sir, are playing checkers!
The Soviets, oops, I mean the Russians do not have to make any effort, just sit back and watch the US miscalculate, again and again.
Oh, the humiliation!
Somebody has to beat back the radical muslims. Thank you Vlad and thank you Egypt!
As predictable as the sunrise.
Obama is fine with this. His perverted goal is to diminish America’s influence. He does not care if it is “his fault”, only that our long term strength is diminished.
Let’s not forget that our State Department is the bull-pen for presidential elections
This is the result of their finest politicians
Putin is going to protect us from Obama’s jihadis.
I anticipate that more of our once allies will jump ship until odumbo is gone forever. His plan is working.
After helping them in Iran?
Vlad has no intention of doing that. Why else help Iran?
I don’t blame them one bit.
For imitating Nasser? The parallels are so close; get closer to Russia and get the MB out of the way.
This Shia-Sunni thing is complicated, no?
Sisi’s attempt to crush the Brotherhood, rather than seek a political accommodation with it, has received staunch support from Riyadh and the UAE, with Jerusalem quietly content with the return of the Egyptian armed forces, under a familiar leader, to the helm. By contrast, the Obama administration, though anxious to preserve Washington’s privileged access to the Suez Canal and Egypt’s role in counterterrorism, has erred in cold shouldering the military regime, while its wider retrenchment in the Middle East has left a vacuum that is being rapidly filled by others. In response to Washington’s retreat from the region, the Saudis and the UAE have been financially propping up Egypt, while Vladimir Putin seems eager to restore Moscow’s strategic partnership with Egypt.
