The important thing here is that the cops got to go home to their families.
What are cops to do when they are approached by a civilian? It was a clear case of having to kill him, because he might have been dangerous. Besides, it was just good target practice, more realistic of a life and death situation than shooting dogs in people’s yards.
These cops are no better than thugs who kill people for the fun of it. They need to be euthanized at the local pound.
It appears that the only people who are safe these days are those who run away from the police.

It is an alternative universe for out of state visitors in Charlotte-Mecklenburg. If an out of state driver is rear-ended by a local, you can be sure that the out of state driver was navigating the roadway at high speed while in reverse.
NC is one of five states that operate under Contributory Negligence http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contributory_negligence. If you are a visitor to NC and get into an auto accident, you might as well add “Dueling Banjos” from Deliverance to MP3 player. You are about to get a taste of Mecklenburg-style justice.
It is not a racial thing - it is a local thing.

The moral of this story....
Avoid any contact with LEO’s if at all possible. The odds are that ANY contact with a LEO may cost you your life, all because a LEO may have “felt threatened”.
This reeks of a soviet style police state, which ends up with the people having nothing but fear and contempt for anyone in law enforcement. Protect and serve becomes arrest and punish. I personally think that a lot of LEO types were deliberately psych profiled and hired solely for their sociopathic tendencies, to serve a single purpose.
To be sure of hitting the target, shoot first and call whatever you hit the target.
