It isn’t exactly a voluntary party split when you are kicked out of the established party. The Republicans are forcing a divorce with conservatives. It’s fine with me as I see little long term difference between Obama and Christy.
Hey, it could be perfect timing for a third party. Look at the bright side, really. How many Democrats/liberals do you know who are wising up to government tyranny, who would never vote for a Republican, no more than you would ever vote for a Democrat, even if he looked "better" than Romney.
Americans want a party that says: prune back government in all areas. Return education, religion, charity, morality, to the states (not to mention the highways and road infrastructure and millions of acres of parkland).
Americans want to vote for somebody who says, "Government is entirely too intrusive on every level. We'll cut it and restore free markets and capitalism." If it's a third party person, or a third party "brand" -- the GOP's brand is way tattered -- so be it.
