Definitely! I often refer to it as “Townshend’s first masterpiece.”
Quadrophenia was his last, so far.

I tend to agree, after Quadrophenia, most of the songs seemed to be Pete whining about being an aging rock star. I even read once where “The Who By Numbers” was one long suicide note, still though, some good songs on it, like “Slip Kid.”
