The Celts liked to travel a lot. They founded colonies in NW Spain and Poland. They also inhabited a portion of Asia Minor and were known as the "Galatians,"

"Galicia" is a region in Southeastern Poland/Western Ukraine. And the speculation is that is where the name came from.

"Galicia" is also a region in northwestern Spain - the northwestern corner of the Iberian peninsula, above Portugal. The people of the region have Celtic ancestry and play the bagpipes - bands from that region march in the New York City Saint Patrick's Day parade.
