fun with numbers
About 15 million people purchase health insurance policies on the individual market. That's about 5 percent of the population.
approx. 63% have other than Goobernment insurance
-198.8 million in 2012.
So, 15 million is approx. 7.5 %. of those that have insurance.
The population of the US is approx. 314 million, so 15 million is more like 4.7% of the population
However, if I lose my insurance, so does my wife.
So, how many people are actually covered under those 15 million policies ?

So, how many people are actually covered under those 15 million policies ? I read somewhere that ~10% of the population was covered by private policies and the total number of of private policies was ~19.6M. Supposedly ~16M of those policies will be cancelled by end of 2014.
