The debris field follows the comet and does not lead as does the tail after passing the sun. Illustration indicates that debris field leads the comet as it approaches earth’s solar orbit.

And what of the Comet's tail being blown in front or ahead of the Comet as it departs the Sun?
Isn't that a debris trail, and capable of producing "Shooting Stars" when it penetrates our atmosphere?
