TOPICS: Government; Miscellaneous
KEYWORDS: curiosity; exploration; mars
This is the most advanced virtual reality application I've seen for exploring Mars based on Curiosity Rover's history of exploration. You control the direction and speed , interaction of Curiosity Rover with the Martian landscape via the mouse or use the many operations tools on the Curiosity Dashboard.

The first thing you'll need to do is download JPL's Unity Web Player software to view, interact with the program.

Secondly, it is highly recommended to view, interact with the program by extending the view to full screen mode.

You can choose among innumerable scenarios including re-creation of Curiosity's complex landing maneuver, including each day of Curiosity's exploration available in chronological order.

The controls are mostly intuitive, not much of a learning curve. Use the mouse to pan up, down, around with full 360 degree capability, plus camera zoom, acceleration, braking, moving forward, reverse other features.

The program opens up just the way it happened with Mt. Sharp to the immediate left of Curiosity's landing area.(Also seen in the most recent image from totally opposite view.)

The only thing I'm wondering is the extent in which the program will allow you to travel to points beyond. Certainly the program is limited to the distance in which you want to take Curiosity.

Meanwhile, they can’t put together a website for people to sign up under Obamacare. Doesn’t that strike you as odd?

What’s even odder is that in 2008 the media hailed Obama for his incredible internet savvy, using Twitter among other internet tools as being one of the most important factors leading to his victory. Yet, here in 2013, they can’t get a basic web site to work properly. No question, the failure of the site to work as it should is deliberate.

Well, at least it made me download and install ‘Unity Web Player’ which I did not have.

If it were up to Obama and Lee, there would only be Afro-nauts.

Thanks for the reply.

It really IS a nice link you posted, seems that we have hijacked it into a comical Obama bash.

I was starting to feel a bit bad...thanks for having a sense of humor!

Thank you for the consideration expressed on my behalf.

Yes, that is quite true. There's a group of hardcore space enthusiasts I had posted this for and hoped their visibility would be more pronounced.

But the reality is nevertheless that Obama is always the ultimate point, takes precedence in being derided and ridiculed above everything else. I have no problem with this post being usurped for that of a higher calling.

The rover is about 800 yards that way. Just follow the tracks. ;)

Yeah. The Afro-nauts are looking to strip it bare, sell it to Martian Salvage.
