Fully six in 10 of Americans participating in a new poll say House Speaker John Boehner should leave his post in the House.
The survey, a CNN/IRC International poll conducted between Friday and Sunday, at the tail end of the government shutdown, also revealed that 54 percent of respondents aren

Remember. These are the same rocket scientists who were telling their pollsters just a few years ago that “global warming” (currently known as ‘climate change’) was real and George Bush and the Republicans were causing it.
You are right—the leaders in the R party including the House leadership should have stepped down after the 2012 election. The party is too weak to win even the easy elections and the leadership is central to that weakness. A strong leadership would have a clear strategy immediately following the 2012 elections that would retain existing support and increase support among other supporters.
But, here we are one year later and the GOP continues to crash into walls, attack one another, and provide support to the opposition party from none other than recent Pres candidate J McCain. You wouldn’t believe it if it wasn’t happening right in front of you.
However, if Boehner steps down, and there is good reason for him to do so, who will step in to his position? I suspect the leadership will want someone who is very accomodating of the left so there is less criticism from the leftist press. They don’t want to be criticized by the EJ Dionne’s of the world.
See, Republicans and Democrats can agree on some things.
The 40% who want him to stay are all Democrats..
These polls are meaningless, as voters are all about ridding themselves of OTHER reps and senators... not their own.
I agree, I really don’t care how many demonrats want him gone, I want to here how many Conservatives want him replaced as Speaker.
Haven’t seen any.

A danger in forcing Boehner out is that it would only take 18 RINOs/GOPe types to forge an unholy alliance with the 200 Demon-rats in the House to elect the next Speaker.
Remember that 87 House Republicans just voted with all 200 Demon-rats to raise the debt ceiling.
