Question: Would Obama have been forced to give his petulant speech today if not for Ted Cruz?

Posted on 10/21/2013 10:44:00 AM PDT by cotton1706

Would Obamacare's failures be at the top of the news or would the failures been hushed up by the media?

Mitch McConnell’s top donor is an ObamaCare insurance company that stands to benefit massively from ObamaCare by creating a crappy network of doctors and hospitals and charging sky high premiums and deductibles to people forced to buy insurance into that crappy network. It’s not just Obama, but the GOP-e, too.

He spent the first 2/3 of the Spite House Rose Garden speech bailing out OBummerCare,
and the last 1/3 of the speech cussing out the resistant Republicans / Tea Party .
He is all about campaigning , ..and nothing about LEADERSHIP .

Probably not, but Cruz’ speech and its content and timing have created an “I told you so” opportunity that would not otherwise be available.

The Roman Senate.

Ted Cruz is a modern day Tiberius Gracchus(the younger)who as one of two tribunes of the people tried to pass land reform but was vetoed by the other tribune, Marcus Octavius, who was a hack for the Senate. After failing to have Octavius removed, Tiberius vetoed all actions of the Assembly thus shutting down Rome. Subsequently, the actual members of the Senate clubbed Tiberius to death and threw his body in the Tiber.

Tiberius Sempronius Gracchus b. abt 163 BC - 162 BC d.133 BC)[1] was a Roman Populares politician

“However, any tribune could veto a proposal, preventing it from being laid before the Assembly. In an effort to stop Tiberius, the Senate persuaded Marcus Octavius, another tribune, to use his veto to prevent the submission of the bills to the Assembly. Gracchus then moved that Octavius should be immediately deposed, arguing that Octavius as a tribune acted contrary to the wishes of his constituents. Octavius, Tiberius reasoned, violated a basic tenet of the office of the tribune, which was to ensure the protection of the people from any political or economic oppression by the Senate. Octavius remained resolute. The people began to vote to depose Octavius, but he vetoed their actions as was his legal right as tribune. Tiberius, consigning himself to the worst situation, had him forcefully removed from the meeting place of the Assembly and proceeded with the vote to depose him.[16]

These actions violated Octavius’ right of sacrosanctity and worried Tiberius’ supporters, and so instead of moving to depose him, Tiberius commenced to use his veto on daily ceremonial rites in which Tribunes were asked if they would allow for key public buildings, for example the markets and the temples, to be opened. In this way he effectively shut down the entire city of Rome, including all businesses, trade and production, until the Senate and the Assembly passed the laws.”

I just think that October 1st would have gone right by without anybody noticing, and would have been downplayed by the media if Cruz and Lee hadn’t been talking about it all summer telling us it was coming. But I may be wrong.
