A local pastor pulled a gun on a man authorities say was trying to rob a clerk at an east side Dollar General Store.
He was able to hold that man until authorities arrived.
Pastor Carl Sanders and he simply says he was in the right place at the right time, just doing God's will. Pastor Sanders tells 14News that he went to the Dollar General Store on Lincoln Avenue for a Gatorade, but people are now calling him a hero.

“He said to them, But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag and if you dont have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.”

Good man!
I’m glad to see the good guys armed once in awhile
Something just doesn’t seem right about a pastor with a gun. Chaplains don’t carry guns and their in worse war zones.
The right place being anyplace that Obama's sons have access to and the right time is when they want something for free.
I think it is awesome. Pastors carried and fought along side militias when we won our independence.
There are some places in America that are just as bad as a war zone and these pastors are on the front line.
Being a Pastor doesn’t mean you should be defenseless.
When considering ‘What would Jesus do’, remember, braiding cords into a whip, flipping tables over and driving thieves out, is a definite option.
The minister was defending another man’s life, not refusing to help someone in need. Be careful not to misapply scripture.
Chaplains in war zones are surrounded by armed men there to protect them as well as kill the enemies.
I was quoted “those who live by the sword will die by the sword” once by someone trying to make an argument against war. It never occurred to the person that in order to “die by the sword”, someone good must take up a sword against that person who has deserved to die by the sword. That is not the same thing as “living by the sword”. Living by the sword is someone like Saddam Hussein - and he died by the sword (or rope), as he should have.
In this broken, fallen world, good people need to restrain bad people with whatever it takes. To neglect this responsibility is wrong. Just like your name says - if you want it fixed, fix it.
How exactly are you to stop someone from taking a life with a ‘sword’ if you are not armed with a ‘sword’?
Those who do not carry a sword can still die on one.
Bttt
Why not? I know pastors that carry. I would feel sorry for anyone comng in our church to cause trouble on a Sunday morning.....
BS. Those chaplains are SURROUNDED by good guys with guns. Civilians aren’t guaranteed that benefit.
Pastors get death threats and many of them carry.
Where’s a pic of Guido Sarducci when you need it...
If the Padre opts for a bit of”Target Practice”,I would be happy to re-load his brass!
