The enrollment period is needed to minimize "as needed" purchases of insurance. Lengthen the enrollment period and the insurers will squeal that the rules are being changed.

The problem with that strategy is that the GOP will then be accused of denying hardworking middle class voters much needed relief... The MSM will completely ignore the fact that Obama and the Dems were willing to keep the government shut down and incur default in order to PREVENT the GOP from including a delay in the deal. And the average low-information Obama voter will just accept that propaganda and the GOP will fall even further. I think we have reached the point where anytime the GOP doesn't give Obama what he wants, he can shut down the government, knowing the GOP will be blamed. And when they do give him what he wants, he can blame the GOP for anything bad that comes out of it, knowing the MSM will lead the sheeple in supporting him.
