In the old days doctors accepted a ham, two dozen eggs for what now costs thousands. When said doctor is sued, 'ham & eggs' will not be acceptable payment in the legal lottery.
Doctors must carry massive insurance policies because there is an entire industry built upon suing them.

Even with Obamacare, the doctors can still be sued even though they are basically told by bureaucrats what treatments they can apply. This was left to please the lawyers.
