“
“youve been making some pretty silly comments this morning”
YOU ARE ENTITLED TO YOUR OPINION
“Health care went nuts due to 3 things
1) The government made it a benefit your employer could give you in pre-tax dollars. (why? you dont buy your car insurance or homeowners insurance through your boss...)”
EMPLOYERS OFFERED THIS PREVIOUSLY
“2) Group insurance was structure with CO-PAY (you pay the same $50 no matter where you go- your local pharmacy could charge $300 and the one 10 miles away could charge $200 and you would not care)”
THIS WASN’T THE GOVERNMENT
“3) The government made it a law that no one could be turned away from a hospital or emergency room. So you had welfare cases calling an ambulance to go to the hospital so they could get a ride to go see their friend who lived near the hospital. You had Mexicans flooding across the border for free baby delivery service.. etc etc etc
ALL CAUSED BY GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION”
YES, I KNOW THE WELFARE CLASS GOES TO THE HOSPITAL FOR A HANGNAIL, I HAVE CHALLENGED CLIENTS ON THIS
I still think the ins cos and the physicians were in cahoots to stabilize and increase prices.
How old are you?
You don’t remember when Nixon signed that into law, do you?
Before the government allowed employers to give pre-tax health insurance to people it was NOT common. I remember a doctor actually coming to our house when I was a kid to see all of us in the family (7 children)
CO-PAY was structure by the health insurance companies ONLY after government regulations made it the preferable way to do business. Otherwise no sane person in business would create such a system that remove price comparison shopping this way. The government made a list of federal payments they would pay for the welfare crowd, and businesses modeled theirs AFTER IT (this was Nixon and Johnson’s fault)
