Rush Limbaugh: GOP ‘so irrelevant’ By: Mackenzie Weinger October 16, 2013 02:25 PM EDT

Rush Limbaugh on Wednesday blasted the Republican Party as “irrelevant” and responsible for “creating one of the greatest political disasters” he’s ever seen.

“I was trying to think earlier today, if ever in my life I could remember any major political party being so irrelevant,” the conservative radio host said on his show, according to a transcript. “I have never seen it. I have never seen a major political party simply occupy placeholders, as the Republican Party is doing.”

Limbaugh slammed the Republican Party for consistently failing to offer any “serious opposition” to the Democratic Party or President Barack Obama. And now the party has made an “inexplicable political cave-in” with the agreement to reopen the government and lift the debt ceiling, he said.

“There hasn’t been any opposition, not any serious opposition,” Limbaugh said. “There may have been votes against this or that, votes against Obamacare. There may have been votes against the stimulus, but in terms of a package of policies, a package of principled beliefs, of opposition expressed daily by party leaders against what’s happening in this country, there hasn’t been.”

The only real pushback, Limbaugh said, has come from Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah). “This is not the time to abandon Ted Cruz or Mike Lee, folks,” he told his listeners.

“You know that what they attempted to do here was, I think, valiant,” he said. “It’s been an illustration of just how terribly wrong things are. There are plenty of opportunities for lessons to be learned here. Now, look, I’m not living in a false reality here.

Well...? I know good people can hear different things.

I remember back in the day, posting about Rush’s insistence that Hillary would never, could never, wasn’t even thinking about running for senator of NY, she’d be crazy to even think about it. I remember screaming at the radio, YES SHE IS, Rush, and she’s going to get elected! And when I posted such here, people told me I was crazy, that Rush had never said such things. But yes... he did.

Rush did not buy into any of the conspiracies against Clintoon...and then, he also told people...URGED them to vote for bammey in the primaries....

Totally missed Operation Chaos, didn't you?

It's simply amazing how many times Rush gets credited for things he never said or did...

He did and he didn’t hear us screaming at the radio, he was wrong and has said so many times.
He is brilliant and sometimes still can be wrong.

Better late than never I suppose.

The mainstream GOP leadership is just plain stupid (they ran Romney, case closed). There is no getting around that.

The GOPe are riding the gravy train. They want the status quo.

America was never designed for professional politicians.

Term limits.

I thought Rush told people to go out and vote for hillary in the primaries? I thought about it and I tried to make myself vote for her but I just couldn’t do it. My sis in law did do it.

Of late I've been more and more tempted to throw it all aside and vote third party, figuring "What difference does it make?". But there is one issue near and dear to my heart where there is a substantive difference between the two parties that makes a difference...and that's guns.

When it comes to defending the 2nd Amendment, the Republicans are far better than the Democrats. Heck, just look at Colorado. Democrats take control of the governorship and both houses, and before the session is over have passed a number of bills that infringe on the RKBA.

Sure, you can find the occasional RINO who will vote against gun rights, just as you can find a rare pro-gun Democrat...but they're few and far between. If the Dems take over the House in the next election, we're likely to see national background checks and an a new "assault weapons" ban passed before we know what hits us.

So, Republicans, you still have my vote, even though I'm holding my nose.

So far.

No argument from me. I love the man, I cannot imagine where we'd be without his influence all these years.

The Democrat Party was effectively purged in 2010 when the Blue Dogs were forced to stand up for Obamacare. Would be interesting to know what they got in return for taking a bullet for the cause?

You’re right. That’s why I’ve largely ceased listening to Limbaugh. He’s become part of the GOP’s bread and circuses act.

He gave a big platform to clowns like Rubio. He’s given air time to all sorts of GOP hacks - who have then turned around and shafted us.

What’s worse is Limbaugh’s defense of crony capitalism - as tho any legal ramification to same is an attack on “free market economics.”

I am voting anyone but Democrat and Republican presidential elections.

If figure that my views will not represented, so what else do I have to lose? Let the GOP feel the pain.

Not so fast....

Here in Florida we just wrongfully prosecuted George Zimmerman for a lawful capping in self defense of a violent black youth

Zimmerman was prosecuted based on the push of a GOP Governor, a GOP Atty General, and nearly railroaded by a GOP State Atty. Do not think for one minute the GOP is so great for gun owners...

As long as the party has Squishy Statists like Karl Rove, Grover Norquist, and George Soros (yes Soros is a big GOP contributor as well) dumping money into it....your gun rights are not safe with the GOP

Wonder if soetoro’s threat of food stamp riots had anything to do with the Repubs caving and getting nothing in return?

The GOP’s problem is we have sent far too many jobs overseas.

We send jobs overseas, and foreigners take them.

The result is fewer Americans have jobs.

Thus: the Democrat party grows.

BRING BACK US JOBS. Now.

Stopped listening to Rush too. The useless chatter about cigars, golf, football, feminists, the sophomoric crap about Weiner and various political peccadilloes serves to siphon off and divert conservative energy.
At least Levin has a plan, and other commentators are not afraid to tell their audience that the Federal government IS the enemy.
And I got tired of hearing “dub, da, duh, ehh”

You keep spouting Dem talking points. Are you a Democrat? It’s well established it was the Dems who shut down the governmetn. That isn’t even up for debate.

What is unreal is your fairy tale. So, what’s your plan? Tip toe to Nov. 2014 and lose AGAIN?
