Yes, History repeats. And here we are even sacrificing our young again. O and our troubles are merely symptoms of our losing our way as a nation. I predict much worse just over the horizon, unfortunately.
We have some serious issues as a nation that must be rectified if we ever hope to stop this calamity we're headed for, IMHO.

Mr. h are "check-to-check". We're okay, but would we have to give up from our "check-to-check" - to put in a new line item to budget for someone else's ObamaDon'tCare and take out something on our budget as it is now?
Are we going to have to go back to "beans and rice"?
Mr. h and I are not cold to the poor or to the needy; we just prefer to give to the church locally, and spend locally by supporting local food banks, Salvation Army items for local sale, Police & Fireman's charities.
I hope we can stick with local needs/charities. It would be irritating to send money to ObamaDon'tCare - who knows who would get it?!

Instead of calling and emailing our GOP leaders, let's censure them. No more calling or emailing them. Might as well give them silent treatment until they can be replaced. What good has it done to contact them anyway? Don't go to their meetings, stop inviting them to speak, stand and turn your back to them if you do go to a speech, turn off the TV when they're on, return to sender any correspondence, and etc. They should be shamed until they are ashamed for being cowards in the stand against these communists in charge.
Defund the GOP. Support only conservative groups and candidates!
