As a sidebar, I actually know Cory Booker personally from 30 years ago. He was a phony then, and from what I see, his character remains as it was in high school, a real apple polishing phony. Another story, my brother’s neighbor a real weirdo was bullied by Steve Lonegan back in his high school days in Ridgefield Park. This guy, not Lonegan, has a son in my daughter’s class who was voted most likely to shoot up the school.

We have forgotten the lessons Reagan taught us, that conservatism is a philosophy best expressed with a smile. It is, or ought to be, based on our best nature, the dangerous notion that free men and women know best how to run their own lives. It’s sunny and optimistic, and in that context a winner.

Thanks

You forget one thing. The GOP’s guys probably do not live where they say they do. So why would they open that can of worms. In principle, I agree with you. The shutdown was great. I despise nothing more than parasitic government workers. I was hoping it would stay closed forever. I just wish people would have done what I did, ignore them. But we played right into their hands with demonstrations and showing how upset we were. We allowed them to get in our heads, we had rabbit ears. A big yawn from the people would have pulverized the Left, but it did not happen. Like I said, I wish it would’ve stayed closed forever, especially since I have never received one government dime in my half century on the planet.

Heck, you've got carpetbagger Liz Cheney running against a solid Republican in Wyoming.

Don’t Cry For Me, New Jersey...says Steve Lonegan!!!

The Finals: Booker beats Lonegan by a mere ten (10) points. On exactly, 09/11/2013, Cory Booker was beating Steve Lonegan by thirty-five (35) points. Tonight Booker carried twelve (12) New Jersey counties and Lonegan carried nine (9) New Jersey counties, an amazing performance without the help of Governor Christie and the GOP “establishment RINOs. With 99.5 percent of the vote in....Booker ends upo with 54.6% and Lonegan winds up with 44.4% of the total vote. Lonegan has done a magnificent job for a man declared to be legally blind!!! Had Christie and the GOP establishment backed him correctly, Mr. Lonegan would have clearly beaten Cory Booker.

We need to get Steve to give it another shot next year!!! Thanks, Steve.....and many thanks to your wife and family...too. You proved tonight that a good conservative can run a competitive race....even in the most blue states in the USA....Time for the GOP to get rid of its RINO low life vermin!!! God bless you, sir!!!

Ever the optimist aren’t you. Our guy lost by 10 in a general election held on a Wednesday in October. What it tells me is that in a low turnout election, our best scenario, we depressingly still lost by 10. Believe me it would have been our worst showing in these parts if this was held on a first Tuesday in November. The only thing proved is that our candidate tonight will never ever win this office, so next.

“Maybe if we learn to communicate our ideals in an upbeat and positive way instead of snarling at the rest of the country we might win some games.”

The media translates our message into a snarl for the sheeple to digest. There are millions of black babies who lost tonight; they are piled in the abortuaries in NJ.

The media convinced NJ voters Lonegan was nuts; they’ll do the same to any that threaten their agenda.

Thanks. I came up with the comparison after reading I, Claudius a few years ago, updated it in 2009, and have posted it occasionally on this and other forums (or technically, fora ).

In case anyone is wondering, after Nero there was a short civil war, followed by the Year of Four Emperors in rapid succession (AD 69).

(Disclaimer: nobody wants to see BHO or anyone else end up like Nero. A simple resignation and retirement to the great Hawaiian golf courses would be just fine and dandy).

Well said, the question is when do we begin for him for 2014, phone banks, donate $, etc.. My guess is if Steve is as hard a worker as he has shown, he may take a day or two off, and begin lets say on Saturday... :-).

Oh man, what a tense day. Thanks to all the NJ FReepers who made it out and voted. Even though we lost (and not by much), it makes me proud of my state.

The real question now is - will Steve run next year when Gorey Booger’s term is up? Someone has to run, right??

“Mayor Lonegan also confirmed that he will continue to create jobs in the private sector and will not seek election to the U.S. Senate in 2014”

OK, well that answers that. Argh - we need someone to challenge this Booker idiot in 2014.... . . .

Booker has that seat as long as he wants it.

New Jersey deserves him.

Before you come to final judgemen, mu friend....please take a gander at the article on “National Review’s website regarding this election!!! I think you might change your mind!!! Steve Lonegan made the best showing of any Republican in the last 12 years lastnight....this without one iota of support or moneu from the “establishment” Republicans and just lukewarm su[pport from governor Chris Christie!!! IMHO....Mr. Lonegan should try again next year. he deserves another shot!!! Believe me....he has surprised the political world!!!

I don’t agree. Booker had the money, the name recognition and the party behind him. If Christie and any of the Republican elites, had supported him, it would have been much closer. He should run again in 2 years and maybe the national tide will have turned a bit by then with the impending disasters ahead for the country.

Steve ran a good race. He got out the conservative base like no Republican has before him in national races.

Here in Hunterdon it was hard to find a parking space to vote yesterday.

"NO!!! Christie is a skilled politician who can play chess really well!!! But...he is no true conservative and would most likely be a much better POTUS then Obama."

Really? How do you figure he'd be better than obomba? How is one corrupt jerk better than another? You think that one turning up the fire a little slower than the other will stop the frog from boiling to death? Seriously? You'd rather torture the frog than just put him out of his misery?

My opinion. Christie, obomba. Same-o, same-o. A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump. Both are very evil men. Dirtbags and scum.

I certainly do not disagree with you!!! I am so mad at Christie for not fully supporting Steve Lonegan. However, Christie is a strategic thinker....Obama is so in love with himself, he can’t see the forest for the trees. Obama also has not one iota of leadership in his body. Without question the worst POTUS in the history of the USA...and he will go down with that marking him forever!!!

My point....Christie wants a massive win in a few weeks which he will probably get. He also has a chance to to get the NJ legislature under Republican control. Had he known that Lonegan would run as strong as he did...Christie probably regrets not backing him, or even better, he should have appointed him interim Senator until the 2014 election. IMHO....if Christie wins big time in NJ, you are going to see a completely, independent, different Chris Christie!!!

Obama...now shackled by failed Obamacare is toxic, a true “lame duck” POTUS!! Christie will have such a large mandate from the people of New Jersey, Obama is going to become a non-player. What he should do is strongly urge Steve Lonegan to run against Booker in 2014. Lonegan can capture that seat....and really put Christie in a solid postion for a real shot at the Pubbie 2016 POTUS slot. Just thinking out loud!!! Your thoughts??? I have an open mind.
