Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Wednesday said he would like to see a clean funding resolution pass the House to end the government shutdown.
McCain expressed hesitancy at criticizing Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) or Republicans in the House but said he is trying to convince them to sit down and negotiate.
I would like to see that myself, McCain said on CNN when asked if he would like to see the House take up the measure. But also again I really am hesitant to pile on members of the House of Representatives.
I try to keep in mind that many of them ran in 2010 promising their constituents that they would do everything in their power to repeal ObamaCare. I respect that.
McCain has long argued against the effort to tie ObamaCare to government funding. And about 20 House Republicans have also said they would pass a clean funding bill if it came to the floor.
The Arizona senator said it would be helpful if President Obama invited the entire Senate to the White House.
I do know if the president invited all of us together in the Senate, I think it might be helpful so we could have a healthy exchange, McCain said.
Obama is planning on bringing both Senate Democrats and Republicans to the White House in coming days.
Obama hosted the House Democratic Caucus in the White House on Wednesday.
The president also invited the entire House Republican Conference on Thursday. But Boehner announced only a number of GOP leaders and committee chairman would attend.
McCain declined to say whether he thought Boehners move to not allow the entire conference to attend was correct.
I dont know It is hard for me to critique what my friends in the House of Representatives do, McCain said. I know they resent it a lot if I do. I cant really respond to that.
White House press secretary Jay Carney on Wednesday expressed disappointment that Boehner declined to bring his entire conference.
McCain said he is optimistic about the level of talks among and between parties nine-days into a shutdown.
Rarely have I seen so many conversations going on at once, he said.
I want McCain to retire today.
We need a LEAN funding bill - no to ObamaCare!
Might as well start calling him Arlen Spector.
John just got his latest talking points from his Master, Valerie Jarrett.
Juan, the Scottish Senator from AZ.
America demands Justice for the Fallen of Benghazi! |
Yep.
He can't, because even he knows that were he to declare himself a Dim, he'd be at the bottom of the food chain, with no value to the Party. See the photo on the right? That's McCain as a Republican - immensely valuable to the Statist Democrats. Should he become a Democrat, he'd become a nonentity, immediately erased, never again to appear on Sunday talk shows, effectively becoming like the left photo.
Most of the time I’m ready to throw McCain into the high weeds, but the story (at least the quote) in the original story seems uncharacteristically devoid of his usual nonsense.
Just saying.
Who gives a damn what traitor john thinks...

Why would he do that? Obama already owns the Senate.
I think we should demand a FAIR funding bill.
Great pic for getting donations, DJ! ;-)
Thanks! I just HAD to do it! LOL
Listening to Mark Levin right now who’s on another issue but just asks “who’s the John McCain in the democratic party?”
Mark Laughs “John McCain... good point, Mr Producer”
You can have your clean bill just as soon as you admit all the crimes you have committed. Till then shove off Juan, the rocket boy, McStain.
Eject him from the party
And I'd like Juan McCain to curl up in a corner and die.
I was wondering where this shriveled up attention whore had gone lately.
