Sad story.
The police USED to have a height requirement too. Now, no height requirement. I want to see BIG, MEAN-LOOKING cops.

Short story--true.
Eons ago I went to a university here. There was a student strike and the student mobs were SCREAMING at the university president. F--words and so on.
So, said president called in the TACT squad of our local police department--young, big cops. NO one moved. They weren't scared of the TACT squad.
So, they called in ALL reserve cops. Lol. Among the cops that came was a group of about 15 local MOTORCYCLE cops came onto the campus. You know, the cops on motorcycles.
WELL! EVERYONE was scared TO DEATH of THEM...their big jackboots, helmets, leather jackets, middle-aged men, tired, grumpy, ticked off at all the stupid, spoiled students who wouldn't leave the campus--even after the SCARY TACT squad came on to do battle. Harhar. It was hilarious. The riot IMMEDIATELY broke up...everyone scattered and the motorcycle cops just had to STAND THERE and everyone shook in his shoes. :o)

Women cops...I dunno. They are like the women firefighters....who CANNOT carry a 250-lb. man down a ladder during a fire. Grant you, the older firemen probably couldn't do it anymore either, but at least they already EARNED their stripes. The BIG push for women cops and firefighters has died down now. I don't see so many of them anymore...thank the Lord.
Years ago I had to file a police report in Newark; the only cop who was in any semblance of fitness was a middle-aged Hispanic captain. The rest were assorted minorities (no whites) in varying stages of obesity; like the special forces in the military, only a small number are actually expected to “see action”. The rest are just workfare recipients.
Police horses are especially trained to deal with crowds. We were in NYC the night when the Iraq bombing started in 1991, and there were assorted losers demonstrating; a group of these cops on horseback galloped past, and they were an intimidating sight. When they started a program with cops on bicycles in my town, many volunteered because of the opportunity to exercise (they needed it).
