It’s typical to direct responses to someone who posts a thread, understanding that they’re directed at the author of said thread.

Your explanation, while most considerate, thoughtful was superfluous as I had mistakenly taken your comment, that old canard, as one being directed at me, personally, for something I might have said, wondering what canard was it that I posted that had me pose my response to you in the confused manner i did, the reality of which was that your comment was addressed to the President.
