President Obama has cancelled a planned trip to Asia, citing the government shutdown.
Obama had been scheduled to leave Washington late Saturday for summits in Indonesia and Brunei, but instead called leaders in those countries to express regret, the White House said.
White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said Obama made the decision "based on the difficulty in moving forward with foreign travel in the face of a shutdown, and his determination to continue pressing his case that Republicans should immediately allow a vote to reopen the government."
Obama told the leaders that Secretary of State John Kerry will lead delegations to both countries in his place.

What, cancelled the trip? (Damn! And we missed a good chance to leave him over there.)
So he called them? Isn’t that what everybody does that can’t afford an $80 million trip overseas?
Already the GOP is getting Obama to economize on these useless trips overseas. They’re essentially vacation perks of the office. Trillions of dollars of commerce is conducted via electronic communication without a single face to face interaction.
Do they really think it is still 1894?
I guess he was told he had to pay for his own fuel.
More good things that the shutdown is accomplishing
The shutdown has been especially hard for Moochelle.
She’s only allowed to dine at four 5-star DC-area restaurants a day instead of the usual six.
In living colors, they walk hand-in-hand looking back at us over their shoulders on the back of the hoodie. Very emotional. It also looks smashing as a painting in dayglo acrylics on black velvet.
This cancellation of the Asia Trip does throw a bit of a monkey wrench into the deal though, as I was counting on massive sales in the transvestite and transgendered community in the Far East. These folks were depending upon Reggie and Barry coming out strong for them. Me too.
Oh well....
I have an idea:
Put them on ebay and then send an email that you have done so to Moochelle.
If they don’t sell out in the first day, then put your email to Moochelle on ebay.
If they dont sell out in the first day, then put your email to Moochelle on ebay.
This, this UC, is why we pay you the big bucks. Brilliant and 'twill be done.
Understand they were going to take bullet proof glass panels to use in hotel windows. Paranoia is a miserable state of mind... Protest threats. Guess that explains it.
Uhhhh ... I know the "why". I'm curious about the "when" part???
And Camp David.
The shutdown is now saving sh!tload s of money now! Hussien is not happy. Awesome!!
Sorry to be retarded in the pay area, UC! You see we are engaged in a copyright battle with St. Trayvon's Holy Father and Saintly Stepmother, Al Sharpton, et al. We were all set to go to court, when Mr. Martin's new tattoo (You remember, the changeover from the Gang Tattoo to the Albrecht Durer "Praying Hands?") became seriously infected.
in the meantime UC, our Legal Department here at St. Trayvon Memorial Industries think your constant harping on the money issue is racis. OTOH, our Marketing Department still considers you the go-to Guru on St. Trayvon Memorial Products and will reimburse you for the trip to Rome to further the Canonization of St. Trayvon and we have you booked for appearances at the opening of several St. Trayvon Martin public and parochial schools.
IOW, your check will be in the mail.
In this regard please do not take offence if I request that the money you put in the mail bear the portraits of old white men rather than that black guy that was on them last time. Obamanotes are hard to pass.
Too hungover.
White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said Obama made the decision “based on the difficulty in moving forward with foreign travel in the face of horrible publicity and
mocking press.”
