“At this point, it would take an act of God to change the Democrats-prayer is the MOST powerful outlet we, who are Christian Conservatives have.”
That is absolutely correct. However, you(we)need to get our priorities right first. Personally, I think God is more interested in “moral” correctness than “fiscal” correctness. The ACA (AKA Obamacare)appears to increase public funding on infanticide (abortion). That is what concerns God...not the politics of socialized medicine (although I think socialized medicine is wrong). I also think God is more concerned about the homosexualization of the military and society. However, only a handful on this forum really care about that.....it is way too Libertarian which is NOT a generally moral outlook.
The stuff we REALLY need to pray about is the rampant sexual immorality (both hetero and homo) in this country and our tolerance of it (to some fools here under the guise of “liberty”). IF we would, as a start, repent of the sexual immorality then the fiscal matters will fall into place. Most here just want “fiscal” conservatism, but no moral conservatism. That is a nightmare in my worldview, and I believe an affront to God. So, pray for our leaders, but pray for them to be turned to the mind of God (and to God)....and see things as He does. End abortion, end an acceptance/toleration of sexual immorality of all sorts....prostitution, pornography, fornication, adultery, homosexuality...etc. This would be a good start. Focusing on fiscal matters is just rearranging furniture in a building on fire. This country’s slide towards Sodom is the main thing burning it to the ground.
Amen to all you both said.
A turn of our country back to God, to holiness and morality, would bring about self discipline in all areas. Believing again that what the Bible says is true would cleanse our nation of the perversion and immorality, but would also cleanse us of sins such as covetousness and theft (which is at the root of all socialism).
If we were once again a Christian nation, and people had self control (well, Holy Spirit control I should say), so many of these problems would resolve themselves. For example, up until about 50 years ago, it was considered really shameful to accept any kind of charity at all, and those who did strove to pay it back as quickly as possible. That’s because people took seriously the verse, “Those who do not work, shall not eat.” You have an entire country that believes the scripture and takes that seriously, you would have people that just wouldn’t accept welfare. Just one example that comes to mind.
And with the end of the promiscituity, etc, families would be intact again, men would work hard to provide and women would see to it that the children would be raised with morals and manners, etc.
So I agree, that’s where our prayers should be focused.
