House GOP votes to delay healthcare law for one year

The House of Representatives early on Sunday brought the federal government closer to a shutdown as it voted to delay President Barack Obama's landmark healthcare law for a year as part of an emergency spending bill.

By a mostly partisan vote of 231-192, the Republican-controlled House approved the "Obamacare" amendment, despite a veto threat from the White House.

It also voted 248-174 to repeal a medical device tax that aims to help fund healthcare programs under the 2010 law.

And in a sign that lawmakers might be resigned to a government shutdown beginning Tuesday, the House unanimously approved a bill to keep paying U.S. soldiers in the event the government runs out of money to run many programs.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid reiterated on Saturday that the House bill would be dead on arrival in the Democratic-controlled Senate, which is not scheduled to meet until 2 p.m. on Monday.

Obama also threatened to veto any bill that delays his healthcare restructuring.

There is a slight chance the two sides could reach a funding deal before the government's fiscal year ends at midnight on Monday. Congress could also act at any time to end the impasse if a shutdown did occur.

But the bitterness of the House debate on Saturday night that spilled into early Sunday did not bode well for prospects of a compromise.

I learned some time ago not to put much, if any, stock in the promises of those who tell you they will do the right thing.....later. But the GOP is not even doing that. They’re saying they will enact this nation-breaking socialist nightmare in a year. Am I supposed to celebrate? It’s like the difference between a complete pardon and a temporary stay of execution, a momentary reprieve. Think about it. And in this case, it gives a now-unprepared executioner a whole year to get the scaffold just right.

Does anybody here doubt that, when push comes to shove, if Obama cannot get what he wants through going through the motions of the legislative process, he will just issue another one of his “Executive Orders” and just fund his baby? Oh sure, people will scream, and cry and bitch and moan for a week or two, but then they’ll go back to their Honey Boo-Boo and Monday Night Football and forget we’re living under a virtual dictatorship. This is exactly what’s happened all through his reign.

The bias in this article, while expected, is nauseating.

All Obama would need to do is NOT VETO IT.

But somehow, we are responsible for our rape because we dressed provocatively.

Hideous people. Utterly hideous. The Media is ENEMY NUMBER ONE, even over Obama.

I’m sorry, but kicking the can down the road I snot a solution.

There is no guarantee that these putzs will hold congress next year, or anything else for that matter.

You win the game while you are on the field or you lose.

That is all.

We need to assign Pro wrestling nicknames for Boener, Cantor, McConnell and crew. Is this” artful” delay maneuver on Obamacare much different from a Pro- hold like the dreaded “ inverted chickenwing camel clutch?”

Good analogy.

This "fight" is about as real as pro wrestling alright.

"Okay boys, who gets to win this week?"

yep. a vote to delay implementation = a (R)loss.

Is not O at his weakest now with his loss to putin on syria ?
Benghazi, anyone? 43% rating ??

a delay allows the Dems more time to get ducks in order.
Of course full imple. now. shows how screwed up it is.

Can anyone explain why a delay is good? O will just
threaten shutdown next year....

Obama has found it very easy to advance his narrow ideological agenda of failure-prone Marxism.

4 years after Obama conned his Democrats into passing the Federal takeover of the cash cow of Medical Insurance, the PC, Doormat Republicans are finally timidly suggesting defunding that Federal takeover.

Without the weak, PC, Doormat Republicans Boehner and McConnell being stupidly kept in their respective leadership positions by truly cowardly House and Senate Members, Obama Medical Insurance “Care” Takeover would have been defunded long ago.

The primal yearning of the 47 % who pay no personal Federal Income tax is to belong to a tribe where all of their choices are dictated to them by their arrogant tribal leader.

This a common trait of those who have low self-esteem.

In that sense, Obamanation is truly a cult.

Freedom is defined in the dictionary as follows:
1.) Exemption or liberation from slavery or imprisonment.
3.) Liberty of choice or action.

Most of the 47 % riding in the “free” wagon seek out slavery, and lack of personal choice.

They thus feel safe.

Liberty is defined in the dictionary as follows:
1.) The state of being exempt from the domination of others or from restricting circumstances; freedom.
5.) The power of voluntary choice: freedom from necessity.
6.) Individual Liberty: Freedom from restraint in the performance of rights outside of government control.

Most people who are getting a free ride in the wagon where 47 % pay no personal Federal Income Taxes, are terrified of making a voluntary choice.

The 47 % would prefer that they be under government control where the choices are made for him.

All of this societal wussiness has made it very easy for B. Hussein Obama, aka Barry Soetoro, to advance his narrow ideological agenda of European-style, failure-prone, Marxism in spite of PC, Doormat Republican token “opposition.”

BTW, unlike taxes, Federal Obama ‘care’ Insurance charges can be increased EVERY YEAR to whatever % the present and future arrogant leaders of Obamanation wants.

BTW, BTW, the free-loading 47 % will always vote for the Candidate for POTUS approved by Obamanation.

It isn’t good at all.

All it does is allow democrats to demagogue the issue now and then.

Republicans a frickin’ idiots.

It’s just as simple as this.

If you didn’t win, then you lost.
