Mark Steyn nailed it a while back. He wrote that Republicans (most of 'em) were like the European conservatives - they never repealed a socialistic law, just claimed they could make it work better. The man's prescience is scary.

Ah yes -- Huckabee had a (congressional) guest on his Thursday afternoon radio broadcast, some faction of the R leadership now offering to "compromise" by "delaying" HusseinCare for one year -- allowing time to repeal it -- (YEA, RIGHT) and I had a similar thought to yours:
Here we go! Give them another year and the program will be so entrenched that we may never extract all the tentacles!
