I heartily agree.
Here’s the email I sent him tonight:
Hon. Senator Blunt,
I am terribly disappointed by your failure to stand in solidarity today with those senators who not only possess a conservative voting record, but also possess enough courage and passion to stand strong on our last lines of defense against socialized health care.
No matter how badly conceived big government entitlement programs are, they sadly tend to stick around and worsen in this country. Surely you can see that when Obamacare goes into effect, this week’s still vibrant cries to “repeal it” and “defund it” will soon dissolve into “improve it by raising taxes.” Since you are one of this nation’s hundred most powerful legislators and since you have stated your support of cloture, you have revealed yourself to be a man who is actively leading our nation profoundly over the brink into European Socialism.
For you, given your position, to do nothing is 1) to turn your back on me, your constituent, 2) to sell out your country’s future and 3) to shame the historic underpinnings of our once free constitutional republic. Surely risking a government shutdown is not worse than the alternative, the onset of government-controlled and eventually socialist, single-payer medicine.
In light of your support of cloture, the fact that you have taken a “strong” stand on this issue before now matters little. If you will not stand now, when will you?
When it doesn’t really matter again, I suppose.
Sir, you have let Missouri down today. I will do my best to expose broadly your decision to abandon the conservative, constitutional values to which you regularly pay lip service.
Sincerely,
[ecinkc]
great letter!!!!
Well done!
Mine were basically, “Where the hell are you?”
Since one of mine is Menendez, I expect no response...
Excellent letter.
