It is the the way the Catholic church operates, and has my entire life, this goes back generations and is not related to this new pope.
Catholic democrats are the Catholic royalty in America.
Well, there's a heresy that Pope Leo XIII called "Americanism" that extolled work and labor over prayer, and devotion to the true religion. Most of the hierarchy in this country even prior to Vatican II were adherents of this error. They put politics over the Faith. Men like Cardinal Spellman and Cushing were Americanists and Democrats who put politics before faith. Their platitudes sounded like the kind of "public welfare" statements you would find in comic books and news media extolling all kinds of natural solutions to problems that really only have, from a Christian point of view, supernatural solutions. They allied themselves with FDR and the other Democrats. And it reaped disaster for the Catholic Church in this country. And we're still living through that disaster, and it shows no signs of abating.
Only prayer and fasting can cast out this demon. Socialism and liberation theology have taken over the Church right up to the very throne of Peter, and we need to pray that the Bishops of the Catholic Church wake up soon.
