You get to sit there and declare your own religious beliefs the one true faith, and everyone else has to agree with you or STFU.

Projection, again . . . still. You desire the circumstance where you are privileged to write the questions (dictate the issues) and then likewise to demand the answers you want. If you don’t get to script the answers, you then declare your questions unanswered. If you wish those desirable situations, go to DU or DC (Darwin Central). That isn’t how we roll in Jim Robinson’s shire.

You’ve been around long enough to know better. But, you whine that you aren’t getting the answers you want and stamp your foot in a temper tantrum. Man up, wimp. In JR’s realm, no one holds your little hand.

Spirited irish and betty boop have taken the lead on this issue, with additional contributions by Alamo-Girl, hosepipe, and a few others. Their responses have been fulsome, but that doesn’t matter. They won’t “STFU,” so you bitch and moan that your questions aren’t being “answered.” Meaning you aren’t getting the answers you want to hear.

So, rather than do the research required to find answers that would demand more profound responses on the part of betty and spirited (as if you have the wherewithal to accomplish that feat), you respond with studied incomprehension, intellectual claim-jumping, or rolling around on your little rug, kicking your heels in frustration (standing off at a distance and peppering the assembly with spitwads).

Do you truly not understand that everyone is on to your schtick?

Whats wrong with heresy?... some celebrate it...
Play with it, even dissect it... and study it...
Sometimes heresy is the truth(Truth)...

Spiritual toys if you will... conceptual dolls and toy trucks...
maybe even scientific fact... or dogma..

-OR- the black wig and robes of social justice..
Heresy can be FUN!...

Spiritual: But-—> you<-— and your confederate in ‘perpetual offendedness’, BroJoeK are the only ones whose crying, complaining, whining voices have been raised against the word heresy. Now, as YHAOS has pointed out many times, you are once again projecting your own vices upon non-complainers.

Of course it can. This was posted in News and Activism instead of Religion, so that it could be a good old-fashioned name calling, mind reading, flame baiting heretic purge. Just for the fun of it.

You label every complaint ‘projection’. This is just way of accusing the other side of what you’re doing. Classic Alinsky.

Thank you for sharing your insights, dear YHAOS!

It does seem that some of our correspondents over the years do not consider their questions answered unless they receive the answer they wanted in the first place.

Are we really looking to "unstack" the deck, or just struggling for control over who gets to stack it? Is "not allowing a divine foot in the door" any less stacked than allowing only one specific "divine foot" while disallowing any others?

You misunderstand me terribly, dear tacticalogic, if you think I am seeking "control" over anything. I'm not here to win arguments, but to point to ideas that I find interesting.

Here's an idea that I find interesting:

...[I]rrespective of whether something actually "happened" in an historical sense, the historical (or horizontal) perspective of any scripture is only useful insofar as it helps to illuminate a non-historical or "vertical" dimension operating outside chronological time. Both religious and scientific fundamentalists attempt to locate in historical time what can only be found in metaphysical space, and mistakenly regard conventional history as more "real" that the deeper or higher truth from which it is a declension. To cite just one example, one may well believe that Moses led the enslaved Israelites out of the death-cult of Egypt and into freedom. But what relevance does this have for us today, unless it is still possible, with divine assistance, to escape the spiritual death-cult of our own psychic Egypt and be led toward the higher Light and Life? Likewise, if we consider some of the words used by Jesus — bread, water, blood, vine, birth, father, son — each of these has a literal sense, an abstract sense, and a highly resonant spiritual/experiential sense. In fact, one could almost define scripture as a special kind of language that operates in a top–down fashion, containing material from every stage and dimension of reality, from the mystical, noetic, and spiritual, to the moral and psychological, to the mythic and allegorical, to the concrete, material and historical. And this is precisely why it is so easy for billions of people to get caught up in the most concrete and literal aspect of scripture, oblivious to the higher and more subtle meanings it contains, for "they have ears, but hear not." — Robert W. Godwin, One Cosmos Under God: The Unification of Matter, Life, Mind and Spirit, 2004; p. 200f.

It just remains for me to say that I regard "scientism" as a strongly doctrinal and dogmatic secular religion. And its adherents are definitely "fundamentalists" in the manner and type of preaching they preach.... And it seems as if such folk regard Darwin's theory as the holiest, most sacred of scientism's scriptural texts.

Well, just some thoughts, my friend. May you have a blessed, Merry Christmas!

Sadly, it looks that way to me, too, dear brother in Christ.

But tacticalogic is not alone in doing this sort of thing....

Thank you so much for writing!

I didn't make any accusations, I just asked the question. Would the deck be any less stacked to allow one specific "divine foot" in the door and exclude all others?

Why do you feel this “policing action” incumbent on you?
Why are you defending heresy?

Interesting concept that TRUTH(truth) is a stacked deck...
True too... Reality is a stacked deck...

If truth were 52 cards makes little difference their sequence..
Whatever their sequence is exactly correct..

Pick a card!.... it’s always the right one..

If you play a card game(Solitaire) with God... you’re gonna lose..
Playing church is whole nother matter..

WHY?... cause the deck is stacked..

Why are you defending heresy?

Why attack it? There are lots of forum members that are heretics by the doctrines being used as the standard. Why do you want to publicly attack their religious beliefs?
