Unlike physical scientists (I am one) who have to go through a rather rigorous procedure with research done and papers published in journals accepted by the international community, with a lot of these social scientists (a stretch for journalism), the bosses often look for a “splash” in the news (it’s like counting a NYT article as a “contribution”)
