1. Elmer and Buggs both get paychecks from Warner Brothers.
2. Elmer isn't bad, he is just drawn that way to elicit your support for Buggs Bunny.
3. Having the protagonist destroyed by the antagonist ruins the entertainment value of the production for the masses.
