It looks like the $600K figure includes the loss of those students whose parents choose to just keep them home on Sept 25, the day that determines federal funding for the school year.

It’s really, really important to schools to have their highest possible attendance that day. They might not care so much about other days.

What you may find is that until Sept. 25 the district is gung-ho to enroll as many students as possible, but after that day they're not at all interested in receiving any more.

Gotta say it's encouraging that the parents are actually reacting. This needs to happen more.
