My 5th grade teacher in Chino, California and a friend of my family in Iowa were both “participants” of the Bataan Death March and my father fought in numerous battles, including Okinawa. If they were alive today, I’ll bet their first priority would be assuaging the grieving families of these Imperial Navy sailors. Top of their list.
I don’t disagree. However, I am not sure their names belong aside our dead.
I am willing to forgive the individuals. I cannot allow the attack to be forgotten—or the manner in which it happened.
I really think that is about as good as its going to get.
Screw them (for lack of better word)screw them all.
My father also fought at Okinawa, and later served multiple tours of duty and deployments in China, Korea, Japan, The Philippines, and Vietnam.
I am certain he would have favored some sort of memorial for these men.
Not as part of the Arizona Memorial, but certainly a plaque or some sort of mini-shrine at a local museum.
