Jon Lewis Alexander is an Iraq veteran who served four tours of duty in his 30 years in the military. Video surveillance revealed from a convenience store in Marionville, Missouri shows the thief entering and hesitatingly pulling a gun on Alexander. But the 54 year old war vet didn’t go through hell and come out clean on the other side just to take a bullet from some low life thug. The grizzled vet whips out his Walther PPX 9mm handgun and shoves it right in the would-be thief’s mouth.

Thank you. It looked staged to me.

Give the clerk extra credit for the way he grabbed the perp’s gun and shoved his own into his mouth.

That was my first impression too - that this was staged. It just didn’t pass the smell test of a real robbery. The perp put the gun behind his back and the clerk grabbed his hand - who does that when facing a gun threat?

I know that the lawyers and judges have decreed that it would not be legal, but in the heat of the battle, if someone pulls a gun on me, that is sufficient reason to fear for my life.

My thoughts too. Looked staged to me as well.

Intent, opportunity, capability. This veteran has lived the Rules of Engagement and did the right thing. Especially since he was on camera...now if the perp raised his gun once he was out of arm reach from having his arm pinned to his side, all bets are off. He did the right thing and didn’t serve a minute in jail.

That was really expertly done. Notice his first reaction is with his left hand to grab and control the perps weapon, by simply blocking the wrist and pushing down on it. At the same time he draws his own pistol with his right hand and gets it in the perps face. He pulls his pistol back out of range of the perps left hand as the perp naturally backs away. Notice that the perp had a cigarette in his left hand. It’s curious, but the perp didn’t drop the smoke... Effectively disabling his left hand. His best counter, had he cared to, would have been to drop down and push his left hand up to push away the cashiers gun while getting his own back in play. But he didn’t. Startled, I’m sure, he just retreated.

The cashier backs away covering the perp as he moves to a more protected position as the perp retreats.

Well done.

With his gun trained on the perp, he could easily have gotten off a shot before the perp got his fully up and aimed. He might’ve gained by taking a two-hand stance.... But hey... Its easy to be an armchair gun coach. :-)

The video from above is moving around. I’m calling BS because he let the perp back away.

This is not real.
