Sarah Palin on Obama: He was against Bush's wars?

The leader of the Republican right teases about the turning point of the war-mongering Nobel Prize winner: He was opposed to Bush but now behaves in the same way

Gov. Sarah Palin in the debate about a possible American military intervention in Syria, "Let Allah sort them out," wrote the former Alaska governor and former U.S. vice presidential candidate on her Facebook profile. In a post Palin - exponent of the Republican right - noted that in the Syrian conflict "Islamic extremists are against an authoritarian regime, with both parties who shout against each other: 'Allah Akhbar' (Allah is great). So what do you think about Allah. "

But the Republican leader has joked especially about Barack Obama, a "Nobel Prize for Peace" winner now "needs to get congressional approval before taking us to war." It is, she noted, the "same type of wars" launched at the time of George W. Bush "to which Obama has said he vehemently opposed because they lacked the evidence that America's vital interests were at stake."

Now let me be clear: I suffer no illusions about Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal man. A ruthless man. A man who butchers his own people to secure his own power. He has repeatedly defied UN resolutions, thwarted UN inspection teams, developed chemical and biological weapons, and coveted nuclear capacity. He's a bad guy. The world, and the Iraqi people, would be better off without him. But I also know that Saddam poses no imminent and direct threat to the United States.

And Assad gassing his own people is?!

Does Obama know where the chemical weapons are being stored? Even the Dems told us
Hussain had them. No not Barack "Hussein" Obama, the middle name that shall not be spoken
to his worshipers and followers.

Italian, like all (as far as I know) Romance languages have male and female pronouns, and translators probably have trouble with them. Or did I miss the mark there?

I’m beginning to think we’d be a lot better off with a rhesus monkey for a president instead of this imbecile. All he ever does is muck everything up and at least a monkey can make you laugh while doing that.

Switch Saddam Hussein with Assad and that Obama quote would look like a quote from Ted Cruz or many freepers. I supported taking out Saddam back then and I’d support taking out Assad for the same exact reasons.

The only difference is that I just don’t trust Obama in charge of our military.

Any context for that quote? Why was Obama commenting on Iraq in 2002?

October 2002 Speech: Against Going to War With Iraq
by Barack Obama

Good afternoon. Let me begin by saying that although this has been billed as an anti-war rally, I stand before you as someone who is not opposed to war in all circumstances. The Civil War was one of the bloodiest in history, and yet it was only through the crucible of the sword, the sacrifice of multitudes, that we could begin to perfect this union, and drive the scourge of slavery from our soil. I don't oppose all wars.

My grandfather signed up for a war the day after Pearl Harbor was bombed, fought in Patton's army. He saw the dead and dying across the fields of Europe; he heard the stories of fellow troops ...

"He was opposed to Bush"

Partially true. He supported Afghanistan and opposed Iraq.

If you go back to those times, the NeoCons(R), the Realists(R&D) and the Liberal Interventionists(D) supported the Afghanistan invasion. But there was some disagreement on how long the US would wait to see if the Taliban would turn over Bin Laden.

In Iraq, the NeoCons supported, some Realists supported and some were opposed, and the Liberal Interventionists supported.

So support for invading Iraq depended whether or not you believed the intelligence. And belief in the intelligence changed. So gradually, as many of those who initially believed the intelligence and supported invading Iraq learned that the intelligence was wrong, or possibly even contrived, their support for Iraq changed to opposition.

It was the increasing opposition to Iraq that lead to the convening of the Iraq Study Group, which lead to the replacing of Rumsfeld(who did believe) with Bob Gates(who didn't believe).
