What he said is a nice way of saying “Death to those who slander the prophet of Islam”. What we have here is a sitting US President threatening people with death if they insult the head pedophile of Islam. Real nice isn’t it.
Say what you want about Putin and his motives,
as no doubt Putin is a strategist over a Christian.
But Russia its policies,influential people, et al is decidely moving more towards Christianity as
Europe,Canada and the US are moving away from it at rapid pace:

Metropolitan Hilarion asked Putin to make protection and defense of Christianity around the globe a major part of his foreign policy.
And, as reported by Interfax, Putin replied, “You needn’t have any doubt that that’s the way it will be,” assuring Hilarion that Russian foreign policy would defend Christians from persecution abroad.
There are no good sides in this war in Syria, the muslim rebels have publicly stated they would kill or expel all Christians and Assad is a Stalin-esque thug who has a history of being protective towards Christians.
But in defense of Christians in Syria, I’d have to say that Putin being on the side of Assad is a slightly better position to the help of Christians.
