Why a nervous Hillary Clinton is remarkably silent on Syria

**SNIP**
I suspect a number of factors are behind Hillary Clintons reticence. Firstly, a US military intervention in the Syrian civil war is strongly opposed by the vast majority of the American public. A recent poll showed just nine percent of Americans backing US military involvement. She probably doesnt see another war in the Muslim world as a vote winner in 2016. Secondly, she may well be harbouring doubts over the White House approach, which beyond the talk of airstrikes, lacks a coherent strategy, and the president hasnt exactly made a clear-cut case that taking America to war in Syria is in the national interest. Thirdly, as the Obama doctrine goes down in flames in the Middle East, from Damascus to Cairo, Clinton will be nervous about being seen as part and parcel of it, which of course she is.
Fourthly, Clintons own track record on Syria has hardly been stellar. Before Syria descended into war, Clinton was a strong backer of engagement with Syria, greatly underestimating the nature of the Baathist regime, famously referring to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad as a reformer in April 2011. In addition, as Washingtons most senior foreign policy official, Clinton did little to stand up to Moscows aggressive support for the Syrians, eager to appease the Russians through the controversial reset strategy, which was her own brainchild. In addition, the Secretary of State was weak in the face of Iran, whose military and financial backing for the Assad regime has been vital to its survival.

This administration has been a foreign policy disaster. They have alienated our friends, been on the wrong side of just about every conflict, stabbed our allies in the back, and pissed off our traditional opponents.
That is the MO and history of democrat admins. When it calls for dealing with anything more than abortion rights or school lunch programs they have proven they are far out of their element.
They supported islamics in Kosovo and bombed a Christian country. The region was then pretty much sold off to German and British monied powers any decent companies left over. Who then, after bankrupting muslim and Christian businesses and companies and governments they also made a grab for resource rights and acquired them too.
Bill Klinton was nearly as bad for the Balkans as the moslems ever were.
The left is evil no matter where in the world it is in power

Just what the hell is the Obama Doctrine?I think that it goes something like:
- America bad. Very, very bad.
- Everybody else good.
- That is, everybody except America's closest allies, the UK, NATO, Canada, Israel, Australia, etc.
- Muslim Brotherhood is OK.
- Actually, Muslim anything is OK.
- Communism has never failed, it's just that nobody has ever given it a real chance, but I can change that.
- I love me.

Hillary asked “Why does it matter?”
It matters because the Obama admin credibility is on the line here. If you couldn’t tell the truth on Benghazi why should we believe you on Syria?

@ Post 48 - I agree with what you said, but you can make an argument that we went into Kosovo with NATO and/or our allies. It was still the wrong decision, but it was a decision made with allies. Clinton’s desire to involve ourselves militarily in Kosovo and his lack of interest in Bin Laden were his Carter moments and those have major consequences today.
Obama appears hellbent to outdo both.

It’s actually brilliant. Read a bunch of platitudes of the Teleprompter, tour the neighborhood, interfere like a drunken buffoon, constantly contradict and embarrass yourself and then sit back while everyone laughs at your incompetence. The end result is a series of brutal civil Islamic civil wars that distract and kill off young Muslim men. Works for me. Sit back and enjoy the show.
